At Roma we pride ourselves on quality and service and have since the early 1900's. Three generations have owned and operated stores starting with Grandpa Peter, his son Joseph and grandson Peter Impala. Our first store started in Boston at the end of WWI with Peter’s California Fruit Exchange. The success of Peter’s first store helped facilitate his second in Alhambra which opened its doors in the 1950′s.Roma Market then moved to Pasadena. It was born from the passion to share this “simply Italian” way of life through one of our favorite joys – food! Roma Market in Pasadena, run by Joseph’s partner Rosario Mazzeo, has been proudly serving the Pasadena community with quality Italian goods. By creating and offering the best specialty products we can find at the lowest price points, we at Roma are continuing our family tradition.
"My Proscuitto is Very Soft Like Butter" Rosario tells LA Weekley. A native of Sicily, Rosario came to the US in the 1950s when Roma Market began to work with his uncle. Today he still works 17 hour days behind the deli counter. "People come here first for me, and then for the merchandise. When I make the people happy, Im happy." Through Rosario's love for the customer Roma market has became a Pasadena landmark. "In my life, I dont take a day off, When I go to bed, I want to come back. Because I like people and I like what im doing" said Rosario A true story about if you love what you do you will never work a day in your life.
